Hyaluronic Acid (Ostenil, Synvisc, Durolane)

For the treatment of pain and stiffness from arthritis and cartilage / joint injuries.

Ostenil is a form of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found within our joints. As we get wear and tear and cartilage damage within our joints synovial fluid levels decrease and this can often coincide with pain and stiffness. Ostenil can be injected into synovial joints to aid with these symptoms and that of osteoarthritis and joint inflammation.

This is often favoured over a cortisone (steroid) injection as Ostenil aims to mimic the body’s natural synovial fluid, causing no damage to the body’s tissues, and with no known side effects.

Cortisone

Sometimes known as a steroid injection, this is used to treat joint pain and inflammation, often for conditions such as impingement, arthritis and frozen shoulder rot name a few. This injection allows you to complete your rehabilitation from injury following an improvement in pain and swelling.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

This involves taking a syringe of the patients blood and placing it into a centrifuge to separate the different parts of blood. The part of the blood which contains aspects specific to healing are then injected into the site of injury to stimulate a healing response. This method is used in such conditions as ligament and tendon injuries or tendinopathy, arthritis and muscle injuries.
